Nationals Stadium in Washington, D.C.

If you don’t follow the MLB much, let me give you a brief update on the Washington Nationals situation: they have put most (read “all”) of their hope and most (read “about $15.1M”) of their money into young pitching phenomenon Stephen Strasburg, and for good reason. The 22 year old throws an accurate strike >100 mph; for those of you just joining us here on this planet, not many people can do that and locate the ball where they want it in the strike zone — he can. Mr. Strasburg was the #1 draft pick last year and made his major league debut this June. Then he had the truly tragic luck to injure himself just 1 week before we got to town to see him play, seriously, who does that? Now the poor kid has to have Tommy Johns surgery on his pitching arm and will be in rehabilitation for 12-18 months.

Annie likes to get to the game with plenty of time to see the first pitch!

At least the rest of the Washington Nationals showed up to play for us at the beautiful new Nationals Park in D.C. The stadium is within view of the Washington Monument and the Capitol Building. We saw the St. Louis Cardinals (Andy’s Team) take on the Washington Nationals in two games! Annie’s Favorite Pitchers were there: Jaime Garcia and Adam Wainwright. We got to see Garcia pitch in one game, which the Cardinals obviously won.

With Jaime Garcia pitching and Albert Pujols playing First Base (and at least equally as important, batting in the lineup), you can't go wrong!

We also got to see Albert Pujols, Matt Holliday, Yadier Molina and the rest of the Cardinals team in action.

These "true fans" in front of us were at the Washington Nations vs. St. Louis Cardinals game physically, but that didn't stop them from watching the Boston Red Sox game on their iPhone from their seats at the ballpark!

The second day’s game didn’t have such a favorable outcome, but the food was great and it was still a fun day at the ballpark.

A great time was had by all - here's the Saturday Baseball Crew after chowing down on some delicious "half-smokes"!

Milwaukee has the famous sausage race. Not to be bested, Washington has the President's Race!
